For all those who know David Adeleke, aka Davido, aka OBO; it is common knowledge that the one thing the "Chioma My Lover" crooner valued more than his touted "30 Billion" bank statement is his love for Chioma and even more so; his son by her: Ifeanyi.
While for OBO, the only way to provide assurance to Chioma that he was in for the long haul with her in their love relationship was to spare no expense in spoiling her with material gifts of whatever her heart's desires were; Chioma's reciprocity came in the form of a gorgeous son named "Ifeanyi".
From the moment Ifeanyi came into OBO's life; it was certain that no matter what happened; the bond of love between them was set to withstand the tidal wave of their relationship challenges. Ifeanyi was the greatest assurance both OBO and Chioma could ever hope for. And the celebration of the boy's 3rd birthday which only happened a few days ago afforded everyone the opportunity to see that the stability that OBO was yearning for had finally come in the shapes of Chioma and Ifeanyi.
Of course, OBO has fathered other children before and has shown that he is a man who loves his children. However, Ifeanyi was obviously a child after his own heart.
Thus, to wake up to the heartrending news of the loss that this illustrious son and his love Chioma had suffered by the passing of their son, Ifeanyi, through an accidental drowning in their family pool is to know a pain that no one would even wish upon his mortal enemy.
Ifeanyi's lights goes out so soon at a time when we had hardly had the opportunity to know him. And even more so, when his parents were only beginning to see that what binds them together was greater than anything that threatened to tear them apart.
So, as we feel Davido and Chioma's pain in the loss of their beautiful son, Ifeanyi and pray that God almighty comforts them as only He can; we are all reminded that for those of us who have very young children; we can never be too careful when taking steps to ensure their safety.
We cannot assume their safety; the care and attention that their age and curiosity demand must be deliberately given. Yes, it is Davido and we are therefore aware of his loss; how many other parents suffer this sort of pain because we often assume that they are okay.
Like my Mom once told me; she was more comfortable hearing my cry and seeing my restlessness that kept her on her toes than my sudden quietness. As a parent or guardian; you should be concerned if all suddenly goes quiet around you where you have a toddler or a young child. Better the mayhem than the morgue.
